Weikai and His Works Zeng
Weikai, born in 1941, comes from Xinning, Guang dong
Province. He graduated from the Fine Arts Department
of Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute in 1962, He used to
work in Jingdezhen Jianguo Pordain Factory, Jiangxi
Ceramic Industry Coperation, Porcelain Sulpture
Factory, the Porcelain Factory of Arts and
Jingdezhen Ceramic Research Institute. He held
different leading posts early of late. Now he is a
master of arts and crafts of Jiangxi Province, an
advanced member of the Association of Arts and
Crafts of China, and a veteran ceramic artist in the
circle of ceramic arts and that of collection.
During the course of his forty-year-long artistic career, he has
not been restrainted from learning conventions. He
has sought new ideas with his own understanding. He
carries on traditional technology process and
techniques. He is diligent in his studies and
vigorous in bringing forth new ideas, He is expert
at procelain and skilled in carving by
half-knife-clay. He works hard at overglaze and
underglaze decoration with great achievements.The
unique features of his ceramic decoration lie in as
follows: first, he blends the models and then, he
applies his studies at color glaze to his creation.
Furthermore, he has a solid foundation and accompli
shments in traditional Chinese painting, and his
works are distinguishing. The models embody his
style, the touches reflect the mood, the glaze
colors enrich charm. His free and delicate touches
are just in place. His works of arts and crafts are
mixed with the delicacy and elegance of men of
letters, which entrust a high artistic taste and the
value for appreciation and collection.
As a veteran and outstanding artist, he is kind and simple, and
greatly respected for his virtues. Mr.Zeng Weikai
was invited to the U.S.Canada, the Tailand, Singpore
and some other countries and regions for arts
exchange. What is best worth mentioning is that he
was sent as a nation-grade artist by the science and
Technology Co-operation Committee of China to Seatte,
the US for a seven-month ceramic arts exchange. His
wonderful ceramic works were quite popular with
Americans, who came for his fame. He was called a
ceramic artist, iexcellent both in virtues and
arts."
His works are colloted in many authoritive museums at home and
abroad, such as in the Treasure Gallery of China
Museum of Arts and
Crafts, and China History Museum. |
