刘远长，江西吉安人，1963年毕业于景德镇陶瓷学院，一直从事雕塑创作，系中国工
艺美术学会高级会员，中国工艺美术大师，国家级有突出贡献的中青年专家。其作品题材内容丰富、形式多样、风格独特，曾多次参加香港、新加坡、意大利、英国、印尼、马来西亚举办的名人名作展，深受海内外赞誉。他创作的『飞天天女散花』曾获百花奖一等奖，『哈哈罗汉』『豹』『春燕展翅』等获迎春奖和新产品奖，庐山牯牛岭上的『牯牛』城雕是他在1988年创作设计的。
1992年他创作的『楚魂』曾获江西大师奖。1997年他创作的『红牛』入选为世界美术家全集，并作为深圳市的礼品送给国家乒乓球队，1998年创作的『渔翁』被中国工艺美术馆收藏，1999年创作的『浴』被中国历史博物馆收藏，1999年，设计了大型（1米5）九龙宝杯被存放在人民大会堂，19寸『飞天天女散花』陈列在中南海，称为国宝。
近年来，他在传统的基础上，有了新的探索和追求。作品由写实到写意，由严谨到奔放，创作了一批夸张变形的作品。使之更加概括，更显抽象，更具个性。

Liu yuanchang, a native of ji’an city of Jiangxi province, has been engaging
in ceramic artistic creation since he graduated from jingdizhen Ceramic
Institute in1963.He is recognized as a well-known Great Master of Chinese
Arts and Crafts and a senior member of Chinese Arts&Crafts Society, enjoying
the title of Young and Middle-aged State-ranking Experts with Out-standing
Contribution. His artworks are characterized by substantial contents, vivid
varieties, unique styles , which have been displayed and are highly spoken
as ceramic masterpieces in the countries and regions of Singapore, Italy,
Britain, Indonesia, Malaysia and Hong Kong .‘Flaying
Fairy Scattering Flowers’,
one of his most noted porcelain sculptures, was awarded the 1st
prize of jingdezhen Ceramic Art Hundred Flowers .His works entitled Laughing
Arhat , Leopard and Flying Sping Swallow were awarded Welcoming Sping Prize
and New Products Prize separately.‘Bull’,his
city sculpture made in 1988, is permanently displayed in Guniuling, lushan
Mountain.
Porcelain Sculpture work entitled
‘the
Soul of Chu State’made
in 1992 was awarded the Great Master Prize of jiangxi Provice. Work entitled
Red Ox, was created by him in 1997 and was selected as the gift to China
National Table Tennis Team by the Shenzhen Municipal People ’s Government,
Guangdong Provice , was collected in the publication Complete Collection of
World Artists . Work entitled An Old Fisherman, created in 1998, was
collected by China Arts and Crafts Galley. In 1999, his work entitled
Undressing Maiden was chosen for permanent collection by Chinese History
Museum. Large ceramic work entitled Nine Dragon-Treasured Cup (1.5m high)
designed in 1999 was collected by the Great Hall of the people, Beijing
Porcelain sculpture entitled Flying Fairy Scattering Flowers has been
displayed in zhongnanhai as a national treasure.
Recently, a new exploration and pursue have been shown in his artworks on
the traditional basis, from the realistical from to comfortable style, from
strict characteristics to bold and unrestrained creation. His exaggerative
works are full of generality, abstractness and individuality.

‘Flying Fairy Scattering Flowers’, a 31`` porcelain sculpture, made in
1980, was awarded the 1st prize of jingdezhen Ceramic Art
Hundred Flowers.

In
1981, Master Liu was in charge of the organization and creation of large
porcelain sculpture project series entitled 108 Heroes in the Water
Magin, which were consided to be the invention in the sculpture
history.

Guniuling Park, Lushan Mountain.

Porcelain Sculpture work entitled the Soul of Chu State made in 1992 was
awarded the Great Master Prize of Jiangxi Province.
