I just came back from a very short trip to Germany. Was I missing my daughter during the trip. Everyone is telling me that having two kids is the best. I do enjoy my daughter but I can't even think that going through all that trouble and pain again to have another child. Am I too selfish? The person sat next to me on the plane from Washington to Frankfurd, Germany, also sat next to me on the way back. I couldn't believe it. Do you know what the chances are for two person happen to have the same trip schedule and fly the same airline on the same two days?

If you didn't know that person before hand, that chance sounds like once
in a life time.

Back in summer 1994, I bumped into a coworker when I was on my way back
from Isreal and going through London. It was an interesting feeling to
unexpectly see a familiar face at a totally unfamiliar territory.

In another incident, last fall, I was in the locker room at the Santa Clara Intl. Swimming Pool. A lady next to me asked whether my name was 'Yang'. I looked at her blankly and said 'yes'. To my disbelieve, she was Xie Ya-xiang! I haven't seen or heard from her since 1981!! As it turned out, we only work a few blocks away from each other.

Yang, I agree with you. This world is too small. I am sure everyone has
such experince. Ha, even someone is not sure who you are in locker room. I just
wonder we may meet at the street of CA but we didn't realize each other! Among
all the classmates I met so far, two guys still look like a decade ago: Ning Xin
and Huang, Pingzhong. Hei, there is any secret to keep that?

About four years ago, when we realized that we both live in Houston, Li
Chun and I were agreed to meet at a Chinese resturant we both know to have
dinner together. I swear I would not recognize him if I didn't expect to see
him. He might have same feeling for me but he didn't say anything (but I did).
Anyway, it has been more than ten years. We are all over the hill. No surprise!

Hei, Yang, this's not your area. They're mainly working on elemental
analysis. It is one type of contract labs. Its main clients, of course, are
semiconductor giants such as Intel and IBM. By the way, it may be one of our
customers because we are analytical instrument manufacture. Anyway, what do you
really want to know or what's your purpose? You want to the organization of the
company or the questions in the interview or something else? I do hope someone
join me to work in elemental analysis area. I go to analytical conferences every
year. But, I only met Sun Li during these conferences. It's too bad, isn't it?
Also, Sun Li may change his field soon. So, I am alone again (This guy changed
to analytical three years ago). Oh, by the way, Sun Li need help now. He may not
know or doesn't have time to check your bullitin board. So, you may directly
send the job opening information to his home page or e-mail address if anyone
has any information.

Subject: Nor. Cal. Reunion
This past Sunday, Cai Hai-ying organized a nice luncheon to welcome Wang
Xiao-mei's visit. We (Haiying, Xiaomei, Xie Yaxiang, Zhang Siwei and myself,
with spouses and kids) got together, enjoyed each other's company. The food was
great, Xiaomei's son, 7 yr. old Raymond (who only likes burgers), said that he
liked Chinese food for the first time ever! Thanks to Xiaomei for bringing us
the Izzy souvenirs of the '96 Olympic.

The previous day, Saturday, having missed Haiying's message about postponing the get together, Zhang Siwei went to the original agreed upon restaurant, Dong1 Lai2 Shun4 (China Estern). While waiting for us, he tasted SIX dishes! We moved to a different restaurant the next day because that was a hard act to follow.

I used to work and visit FDA, USGS, and NIST. In my opinion, All the
govenment job in the world is similar. So, if you have working experince in
China, you should know what the govenment job is here. Of course, they get less
pay because they do less.
